Automatic Centreline Extraction Algorithm for Complex 3D Objects

University of Manitoba researchers have developed and validated a novel, fully automated, centerline extraction method that produces one-pixel thin, continuous, and spatially accurate skeletons from complex 3D shapes in a computationally efficient manner. The method uses a ‘divide and conquer’ algorithm, in which any 3D object is first sliced into a series of 2D images in X, Y and Z directions. A geometric (Voronoi) algorithm is then applied to each planar image in order to extract the 2D centerlines before recombining the information using an intersection technique that is able to reconstruct the centerline of the original 3D object.

University of Ljubljana has repurposed Nitroxolin for the prevention and treatment of diseases caused by coronaviruses, in particular SARS-CoV-2. A significant advantage of nitroxoline over other candidate drugs for the treatment of covid-19 (repurposing drugs – amantadine, teicoplanin) is that the mechanism of action on the target has been extensively investigated. Our process can additionally generate a variety of compounds with improved antiviral activity.

The DIP Multiphase Flow Meter (DIP) is based on a vibroacoustic technology and has been designed to provide accurate measurement of flowing multiphase fluid. The fluid can contain gas, oil (or gas condensate), water and sand. Applications include oil and gas allocation, well management, production optimization, reservoir management and many more. The vibroacoustic signal is measured by the accelerometer and after the filtering converted to the flow rate, GVF and watercut. That signal also contains fluid density and liquid viscosity information. A differential pressure transmitter is required to calculate accurate flow velocity. The main parameters the DIP can measure are mass and volumetric flow rates of gas, oil and water. It can also measure GVF, watercut, flow velocity, fluid density, liquid viscosity and sand content.
